Interviewed by Paul Luke in THE PROVINCE For His Article “To catch a liar: UBC profs have become master human lie detectors, uncovering little white lies to criminal masterplans

This article, written by Paul Luke for The Province in Vancouver, British Columbia, is an interesting discussion on liars. Since I am a leading Talent Attraction Consultant, he reached out to me to discuss candidate lying practices. Our interview is reflected near the end of Paul’s article.
I recommend that you read the entire article because it is very interesting. My experience with candidates is different than most master criminals (hopefully!). Many employers have discarded the most valuable practice to determine a candidate’s cultural fit and veracity regarding their experience and responsibilities in previous positions – a comprehensive reference check. Human Resource Departments that only check the title and dates of employment of a candidate (because they “are too busy”) are letting their managers down.
In my recent book, EXPECT SUCCESS! The Science Of The Over 50 Career Search, I coach candidates on the importance of a directed reference check. You may find my book on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and even at Walmart online!
