Are You Searching for a New Job?
Over the past 26+ years, I have coached over 1,000 professionals to new positions in their careers. My perspective is different than most career coaches because over the past 45 years, I have become the Leading organic search engine result for “Talent Attraction Consultant.”
I know what is happening behind the HR curtain inside your targeted companies.
Are you satisfied with the results of your search?
If your answer is, “Yes, I am satisfied with my job search,” have you started a new job?
If not, why not?
If your answer is, “No, I am not happy with my search,” what do you feel is holding you back?
As a leading Talent Attraction Consultant, I have a secret.
If you promise not to tell anyone else, I will share it with you:
There are ALWAYS more jobs available than are posted online!
Some positions are never posted because they are filled before they are announced outside the company.
Other positions do not exist yet because the hiring manager does not have a critical need at that moment.
You may be thinking, “Of course. Those jobs are filled by internal candidates.”
Not necessarily.
When I am working on a Talent Attraction Consulting project, after meeting with the managers who have openings, I meet with as many other potential hiring managers as possible.
I ask them a simple question:
“If the right candidate came along, would you open a position and hire them?”
“Absolutely!” is almost always the response.
Then I ask:
“What does that person look like from a cultural and experience perspective? Are you interested in candidates from specific industries or companies? Are there potential internal candidates?”
On one consulting project, I asked those questions of an IT Manager.
He already knew me. On a previous contract, I had recruited him, then helped him round out his staff with additional hires.
Over the next six months, while I was filling the positions I had originally been hired to recruit, that manager and I identified and hired six additional people.
Think about that.
Those six positions were not posted until AFTER we identified the people he wanted to hire.
I told the candidates we planned to extend the offer within a week.
As you can imagine, they were excited!
Bottom line: The number of jobs posted online is NOT the number of jobs available.
There are many potential positions that never appear online until the right candidate creates the need to hire them.
That is why a successful career search requires more than applying to posted jobs.
Your goal is not simply to find an opening. Your goal is to become the candidate a hiring manager does not want to lose.
