Why should Hiring Managers involve themselves in Recruitment Process Improvement? If your company is a startup, Sourcing and Recruiting are parts of your responsibility. If your company is a large corporation, recruitment is controlled by Human Resources. Since a Hiring Manager is a client of Human Resources, you should be allowed to team with HR to improve your recruitment results.

What is working?

“Do not throw the baby out with the bathwater” is the appropriate saying to describe Recruitment Process Improvement. Look at your recruiting processes to determine what is working well. Then, determine what processes are not working. For instance, does a Recruiting Coordinator, who never spoke to you about your open position, select the resumes for you to review?

If so, do you feel that process may need improvement?

In your organization, how do you influence change? Are you ready to take responsibility for Talent Attraction for your positions?

Improve One Process At A Time

Measure the results. If the results are improved, focus on another process. Are you losing too many sharp candidates to counteroffers? Why? How is your team handling counteroffers? Do you prepare candidates, who interest you, for a counteroffer? Remember, a person who receives a counteroffer from their current employer has just demonstrated their worth.
