Business Insight: Go beyond resume to get best candidates
Application process has its place, but it’s only a start
In this interview by Dawn House of the Salt Lake Tribune, we discuss the importance of creating a new, Talent Attraction based approach. Too often Human Resource departments insist on requiring professional candidates to complete an application before submitting a resume (that already has the Candidate’s employment history).
If you are a top-level candidate, will you spend 20 to 30 minutes of your life completing an application – and know that rarely will you receive a call? The top candidates that I coach tell me as soon as they see they have to complete an application before they submit a resume, they move on to another company.
My recent book, EXPECT SUCCESS! The Science Of The Over 50 Career Search (available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and even Walmart online!), discusses why professional candidates should network their way to interviews – and how to go about doing so.
