When are the 2 best times of the year to search for a new position? My experience as both an expert Talent Attraction Consultant and an expert Professional Career Coach demonstrates that the time between Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day is the Best time during the calendar year to find and accept a new position. The 2nd best time of year for you to search for a new position is July through Labor Day.
The most common response when I meet with professionals seeking a new job is – “What! I thought this is the worst time to look for a new position! The managers are too busy at the end of the year, and in the case of the summer, they are on vacation.”

Companies with government contracts typically work on the Federal budget year – from October 1 to September 30. With some exceptions, most other businesses have a January 1 to December 31 fiscal year.
Why are the Best Managers searching for new talent in the months preceding the end of their fiscal years? On the first day of the new budget year, they have one or more positions in their budget to start a new team member. Mic drop!
Organizations look for new talent all year round. If you are conducting a search for a new position, ramp UP your efforts during this time. Do not take it off like most of your competition.
