#JobSearch #Friday FULFILL YOUR LIFE! EASILY CAPTURE YOUR DESIRED JOB NOW FOR THE NEW YEAR!

We all know that approximately 60% of you are not engaged in your jobs. Approximately 14% of you are completely disengaged. How do we know? You certainly have heard of the famous company, Gallup – an analytics and advisory company. Some of you have heard the name because of their polling capability. This is their annual engagement report for 2020 – U.S. Employee Engagement Rises Following Wild 2020 (gallup.com).

If you are not engaged in your current Career, you are not happy. Think about this for a minute – it should not take longer than that – You do ALL your work, and you are not recognized for your efforts. Worse, your manager takes credit for your successes – and gives you none.

How Would Working Somewhere You LOVE Change Your Life?

When was the last time that you were excited to work for a company? Was it recently, before your current Manager – or was it so long ago that you do not remember a position where you were excited to work? If the latter is the case, I feel bad for you because it is negatively impacting your health, relationships, and personal attitude.

In the past, when I worked in a toxic environment, I found a way to leave that environment as soon as it made sense for me. Now, as a consultant, I know how to identify those environments quickly – generally before I sign the contract. If I do sign the contract and discover I landed in a toxic environment, I end the contract without accepting an extension. There are too many desirable companies where I – And you – may work and enjoy ourselves.

How Do I Find Those Companies?

Have you heard of the game or the saying “Six Degrees Of Separation”? They refer to an interesting concept that I have found in my recruiting business to be true. You are only 6 phone calls from reaching the person you want to reach. They could be famous or they could be a long lost family member – or they could be someone you do not know but know their position within a company. Today, identifying that person is easier than ever. Use Goggle or Microsoft Bing to learn who is the CFO (for instance) of ABC company. That company’s offices could be across the street or the country.

Your first step is to identify who needs your expertise. Many companies need the expertise of people like you. If few companies need your expertise, your potential worth to them is higher.

Look for companies in your area – or where you would like to live – who have open positions. You may search on LinkedIn or Indeed or the myriad of other Job Boards for open positions. Do not simply look for your current title. There may be 10 or more titles for the work that you do. There are 34 titles that describe Sales positions.

Once you hit on a list of openings, either take a screenshot or copy and paste the openings into your Word document. All that you are doing now is research.

How Do I Find The People?

And that is your next step. Who do you know works at the company? If you feel that you do not know anyone, do some detective work. Type the name of the company in the search box on LinkedIn. Then click on the link with the number of employees on LinkedIn – Magic! Is there someone on that list that you know from previous employment, college, or even high school? Link with them on LinkedIn with a note asking if they would mind chatting with you about their company. Now you will get their straight scoop. They may even introduce you to the right manager if they have worked with you in the past.

You Are On The Right Trail Now!

This work will lead you to the right company. If you are excited about leaving your company, that excitement will extend into your current job while you are interviewing. Remember to continue working at your current company while searching for a new position. The maxim that “it is easier to find a job when you have a job” is true.

Once you find that right company, that Manager, and that right position for you, you will wonder what took you so long to begin your search. Congratulations!

You can do this!
