#JobSearch #Friday – PROJECT CONFIDENCE DURING YOUR INTERVIEW
Are you searching for a new position with your targeted employer? Would you like to know how to raise their interest in you? Would you like to know One Secret that will improve your potential to receive an offer?
Reflect on the recruiting process. The manager decides they need to hire one or more new employees, and they develop justification to do so. Then they create a new job description that they hand to Human Resources.
Human Resources often spends money posting that position online and adding the opening(s) to the company Career pages.
This is where you enter the picture. Either you network your way to an interview (74% to 76% of all jobs are filled this way) or you complete an online application and apply via a Job Board (Corporate Website, Indeed, Monster, CareerBuilder, or any niche job boards – 8% of all jobs filled this way).
When the manager sifts through the resumes (usually, they will only see five or six resumes – the applicant tracking system effectively screens out the rest), they determine whom they would like to interview.
Why Discuss The Process?
Review the steps taken to identify qualified candidates. By the time the decision is made whom to interview, the Manager and Staff have already spent time from their management role to reach the interviewing process. Therefore, they feel they are prepared to extend an offer to the best qualified candidate.
This Is My ONE Secret
If a Manager selects you to interview, they believe you May be qualified to do the job. They want to identify the best qualified candidate NOW – And they are rooting for you to SUCCEED!
Read those sentences again. This information should give you the confidence to succeed in your interview.
Too often, I see candidates who question their ability to perform the position they desire. Yet, when I look at their resume and discuss their background, I feel they may be the best person for the position at that moment.
Therefore…
In preparation for your interview, ask for the job description when you are asked to interview. The job description is probably different than the job posting on the Internet. The job posting is designed to attract your attention to the opening – and apply.
Review the job description. Note where your experience dovetails with the responsibilities of this position. Create stories that demonstrate your ability to succeed in the position.
Very few candidates are a perfect match for any position. The successful candidates who demonstrate experience in the position, the attitude to succeed, and persistence, are the ones who receive an offer.
Project Confidence – and you will often be rewarded with an offer.
