#JobSearch #Friday – CORE – A NEW INTERVIEWING AND SALARY NEGOTIATION CONCEPT!

C- Confidence

O- Optimism

R- Research

E- Execute

How Does CORE Impact Interviewing?

You have the experience to succeed in interviews. You have most of the skills, if not all of the skills, necessary. Since you incorporated positive visualization, you are more optimistic than you were several weeks ago. CORE will assist you to power your way through your interviews. 

C – Confidence —  The fundamentals of your search that you completed demonstrates that you are the complete package: skills, experience, and attributes to excel in this position.  

O – Optimism — Fortunately, attitude is within your control. With your successful background, you have reason to be optimistic. 

R – Research — Your power move now is to research the company. Examine the company’s website to understand as much about the company they want you to know. Conduct a Bing or Google search on both the company and the hiring manager. Look at the hiring manager’s LinkedIn profile. What may you glean from their background that may be key to succeeding in the interview: same education, previous company, volunteer activities? Get to know them. 

E – Execute  Absorb this new information. Then create a plan to use it in your interview. How will you structure questions to introduce the topics you would like to discuss with them? Execute a powerful interview. 

How Does CORE Impact Compensation Negotiation?

You may apply CORE again in Salary Negotiation. This practice will earn you compensation increases, especially if you worked at the same employer for a long time. 

C – Confidence – If you are not confident in your Salary Negotiating skills, now is the time to ACT Confident! Your confidence will reflect well on you, as it did in your interviews. If HR or someone on the interview team comments, “You are a tough negotiator.” Confidently respond, “Would you agree that I will need to negotiate in this position?” They will say, “Yes.” Then you respond, “Wouldn’t it be better to learn how well I negotiate now than waiting until I join your company.” You are helping them interview you – that is the purpose of interviewing – identify skills.

O – Optimism – Think about your current position. You have worked your way through the ENTIRE Job Search Process to this point. You know from previous Steps that the Manager is hoping that You are the person they hire! They selected you to negotiate compensation. Is there a Better Time to be Optimistic?  

R – Research – Did the company give you the salary range of the position? Does the range meet your needs and create excitement for you? If it is slightly lower, we can fix that!  The Total Compensation Package is important. Consider the Deferred Compensation – 401(k) match, profit-sharing, and other benefits. 

E – Execute – You have your Confidence and Optimism where you need them. You know your compensation needs and desires.  Now is time to use my script to EXECUTE your Compensation negotiation.  You Got This!
